
Puppet Museum is a museum located in the Great North Road Door No. 27, West Jakarta. Building that looks unique and interesting it has been several times through renovation. This building was originally named De Oude Kerk Hollandsche ("Old Dutch Church") and was first constructed in 1640.
In 1732 repaired and renamed De Hollandse Nieuwe Kerk (New Church of the Netherlands) until the year 1808 due to destroyed by an earthquake in the same year. Above-ground ruins of this former puppet museum building was built and inaugurated its use as a museum on August 13, 1975. Although the church has been restored several old and new parts still appear visible in this building.
Puppet Museum displaying various types and forms of puppets from all over Indonesia, both made of wood and leather and other materials. Puppets from abroad are also here, for example from the People's Republic of China and Cambodia. Until now the Puppet Museum collects more than 4,000 pieces of puppets, made up of leather puppets, puppet show, shadow boxes, shadow grass, leaf puppets, masks, dolls, puppets and gamelan beber.
Generally collectible dolls in this museum are dolls that come from Europe although some are derived from several non-European countries such as Thailand, Suriname, China, Vietnam, India and Colombia.
Also periodically disenggelarakan puppet also at weeks 2 and 3 per month.
On November 7, 2003, the UN decided to recognize the puppet Indonesia as a world heritage that should dilestarikan.Wisata Indonesia Heaven on Earth.
