Si Pitung Home (North Jakarta)

As we know, a name synonymous Pitung Si as the figure of a figure "champion" from Land of Batavia - as the indigenous past for the city of Batavia, now Jakarta. Name of magnitude so resound during the era of Dutch colonial rule was still in Indonesia. Until now, the name remains legendary Pitung at the heartstrings of Indonesian society, especially the Betawi people. The memoir "The Champions" still remain until now, in the form of the monument a stage house still standing and is in the area Marunda, North Jakarta.

Building a house is supposedly trusted by local people, as a residence Si Pitung. Stage house is a typical Chinese architecture, measuring 40 x 8 feet square, stood on a land area of 700 square meters. Original floor planks are made of bamboo. Meanwhile, the walls of his house made of teak wood that is not painted, making it look obvious that the original color of teak. In addition to building a house, there are also two ponds are essentially still the land.

In the front yard, overgrown with some kind of banana tree china. On the front and back of the house, there are stairs veranda equipped as high as 1.5 meters are decorated with ornaments in the form of wood carving motifs on both sides.

On the home page, there is a small pavilion. Where a small pavilion building, reportedly formerly, Pitung often used for meetings or receive guests, among friends and neighbors who stopped at his house.

In 1972, the Government of DKI Jakarta organized the restoration of the house. Unfortunately, due to the restoration, some of the authenticity of parts of the house is a lot missing, for example, the original bamboo floors, replaced with wood, the walls of the house today, has been painted with a kind of varnish wood crimson; later, the pond is located in around the house, all the parts have been fitted with ceramic; including, some walkways around the house, also fitted with ceramic; roof tile houses have also been replaced, but still the same color, and, the house has now been fitted with electricity, so that no impression armature, as before.

To see the house, there are two paths to get there, by land or by boat crossings. When we travel overland, can use public transport from Tanjung Priok Terminal, about 15 km to the Rorotan. Then, proceed with the use of motorcycles (bicycle / motor), and we still have to down a dirt road as far as 3 km.

If we use a private vehicle, we can leave him at the houses of local residents, who have been accustomed to accept the arrival of tourists who will visit the house-which is about 500 meters from the location Home Pitung. In addition to by road, we can also use the boat crossings to traverse a distance of about 50 meters down to Kampung Pulo Marunda. Then, we still have to travel a distance of approximately 200 meters to reach the destination location.
